Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center (MACC) will partner with the Veterans Recovery Center, part of the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System, to present the “Between the Lines” Healing Arts Program. The program will provide 200+ annual expressive arts group activities free of charge at multiple sites. Participants include military-connected individuals experiencing combat-related post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury, grief, depression, paranoia, schizophrenia, or other diagnoses. MACC’s Healing Arts team will utilize intermodal creative arts expression to facilitate multi-faceted healing experiences that provide coping tools, validation, and hope, impacting the quality of life for Middle Tennessee veterans and families who otherwise lack access to therapeutic arts opportunities. Program-related public exhibitions will validate and celebrate participants’ expressive healing journeys while encouraging vulnerability, empathy, and connectivity within their respective communities.
