Creative Appalachian Mountain Opportunity Retreats
Yew Mountain Center, in partnership with The Pocahontas County Artisans Co-op, will offer Creative Appalachian Mountain Opportunity (CAMO) Retreats. CAMO retreats, held on a 500-acre nature preserve, will serve military-connected individuals and their families. During the multi-day retreats, participants will work several hours a day with an artisan to learn a craft and create a project, while their families can stay at a comfortable, rustic lodge. In addition, participants and families can engage in outdoor recreation or relax in the nature sanctuary or lodge in their free time. CAMO retreats aim to strengthen relationships among members of military-connected families in a peaceful, supportive environment, to enhance veterans' artistic skills and capacity for creative expression, and to cultivate the practice of mindful, potentially life-long avocations.
