Huntingdon County Arts Council, in partnership with the Huntingdon County Veterans Affairs Office and Simple Gifts musicians, will present Music for Older Veterans with PTSD and Related Issues. The program will provide music lessons and instruments for beginners, opportunities to perform at three seniors' residences, and two weekend-long, hands-on, adult-oriented music camps. The program will serve older veterans (ages 60+) with PTSD. Veteran participants will perform along with Simple Gifts musicians at three nursing homes. The veterans will also attend weekend workshops at the Pennsylvania Folk Gathering and at Folk College. The project is designed to engage older veterans in a wholesome, creative hobby and create an environment for social interaction and friendship building.
