BLIXT Arts Lab's Not Too Far Distant project aims to build connections and strengthen relationships between Nebraska's veterans, active-duty military personnel, families, and communities through live theater performances, community engagement, and education. Not Too Far Distant is a play that tells the story of Clarence Williams, a Nebraska veteran, and those who loved and cared for him. The play, written by Becky Boesen, honors the experiences of American soldiers and emphasizes the responsibility we all share in creating a brighter future. The play also provides multiple entry points for veterans and non-veterans, resonating with participants from all walks of life, various generations, and urban and rural communities. The project targets rural areas where access to artworks and community engagement activities may be limited.
