Des Moines Art Center's Veterans Access Programs will provide formal art education and classes by partnering with a residential care facility for veterans and the Des Moines VA. Through individual workshops, weekly classes, and semester-long sessions, the Center's teaching artists will offer courses tailored to the desired media and art instruction outcomes identified by the participants. Ultimately, the program will fulfill veterans’ expressed desire for an outlet for self-expression while addressing the isolation of veterans and the need for formal art opportunities outside of the Des Moines VA.
