Gioia Chilton is a registered and board-certified art therapist and researcher with over twenty-five years of experience. Gioia works with active-duty military and their families experiencing the effects of post-traumatic stress at the Intrepid Spirit Center, Ft. Belvoir at the A.T. Augusta Military Medical Center.  She has published more than 25 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters. Her writing has appeared in The Oxford Handbook of Qualitative Research, the Journal of Applied Arts and Health, Journal of Military, Veteran and Family Health, Cogent Arts & Humanities, Military Behavioral Health, and the International Journal of Qualitative Methods. She is co-author of the textbook, Positive Art Therapy Theory and Practice: Integrating Positive Psychology with Art Therapy.
