Peter J. Buotte is a nationally board-certified art therapist at the Fort Cavazos Intrepid Spirt TBI Clinic in Texas. Since December 2016, he has created a supportive environment for Active-Duty military patients who have experienced mild traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress. He leads individual and group art therapy sessions with a strength-based, cognitive-processing approach. He is interested in the intersection of art therapy and neuroscience.
A grandson of a WWII Veteran and the son of a Vietnam War Veteran, Peter completed 26 years of combined Active and Reserve service in the US Army culminating as a Civil Affairs Officer with 5 combat tours overseas.
Academically, he was a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar and studied at the Ecole de Beaux Arts in Paris in the Christian Boltanski studio. He completed a Masters in Fine Arts at the Maine College of Art, Portland; and a Masters in Art Therapy at the School of Visual Arts, New York City. An active artist for decades, his digital sculptures of “Invisible Wounds“ were shown at the Texas State Capitol in Austin and Central Texas College in Killeen.
